Proactively meeting Export Compliance requirements to protect goods, technical data, and services

Farmington, CT - Connecticut Spring & Stamping (CSS), a manufacturer of precision parts for the medical, aerospace, firearms and defense industries worldwide has been fully registered with the United States Department of State, regarding the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Export Administration Regulations (EAR), since 2002.

CSS has established strict protocols and procedures for all areas of export compliance and works closely with their prospects, customers, suppliers and sub-vendors to ensure compliance. This demonstrates due diligence regarding the confirmation that each company they do business with, is also registered with the Department of State or ATF, and that they have a clear understanding of the US compliance regulations, and in turn, will do their part in the handling of the controlled products appropriately.

CSS also obtains an annual registration, a Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), which authorizes them to manufacture and export products parts that are listed on the United States Munitions List (USML) & Commerce Control List (CCL) after applying for the appropriate licenses. They are also registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and maintain a federal firearms license (FFL) that allows the manufacturing and exporting of firearm components once securing the appropriate export license to do so.

As part of their compliance, CSS has developed and implemented a written export management compliance program, which is rigorously followed regarding all products and technology that are classified as ITAR or EAR controlled, across various markets i.e. fire arms, government & defense, aerospace, medical, and electronics, amongst others.

Procedures are also in place to screen and clear all visitors entering CSS against various governmental & international debarment listings. Once screened & cleared, they are escorted throughout the facility, avoiding the areas where controlled parts are being manufactured.

“We fully support all compliance regulations to prevent the possibility of defense parts, technical data and/or services getting to the folks that will compromise our national security, and prevent terroristic activities,” said Steve Dicke, CSS’s Empowered Official. “We are obligated and happy to do our part to help obtain that objective.”
